“The Congregation of the Salesian Missionaries of Mary Immaculate is a religious missionary branch of the Society of the Daughters of St. Francis de Sales” founded by Rev. Fr. Henri Chaumont and Madam Carre de Malnberg from France. Mother Marie Gertrude Was the pioneering missionary to India. A holy, a spirit filled, dedicated and valiant woman, who was divinely inspired to reach out to the women and the poor under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Today, this mission is being carried out by SMMI Sisters in Karnataka through educational service, social empowerment and health care ministries. Accordingly, St. Teresa’s School started in 1918 with 3 kids. St.Teresa’s Girls’ school(Kannada Medium) was opened in 1925, St. Teresa’s Training Institution in 1945, St. Teresa’s Nursery School Started in 1965, P.U.C. was Started in 2011, Degree College was started 2014, Pre-Kg Started in 2017 and St. Global Academy ( ICSE) started in 2022. exclusively for the empowerment of girls and women in education. We teach in both the mediums (Kannada and English) right from Nursery to PUC, D.Ed ,Degree college and St. Teresa’s Global Academy (ICSE).
Further, in the empowerment of women our sister serve in the hospitals, day-care centers, boarding homes, social service centers and family welfare centers in rural and urban areas, in the five continents of the world. We Serve in India, Bangladesh, Europe , Mauritius, Reunion, Haiti islands, Philippines , Madagascar, Italy, Africa, Papua New Guinea, Latin America and North America.
We draw inspiration from Christ who willed the total transformation of every person, from our founders Fr. Henri Chaumont and Mother Marie Gertrude who were divinely inspired to promote and build up the right of human dignity in every person particularly women and the poor.
So, after the examples of our Founders, our aim is to form every child as an integrated person in the society.
Hence, we strive for the total development of each student on her uniqueness, so that she becomes: intellectually alert, emotionally balanced, morally sound, spiritual oriented, socially committed, culturally enriched and physically healthy individual.
